  • Energize Your Passion with an Electrical Engineering Degree from Gannon University

Electrical engineering powers and moves the world. The rapid pace of technological innovation is driving demand for electrical and electronics engineers in research and development. Earn a degree in electrical engineering to meet this demand and gain the expertise needed to design new technologies.

This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs Program Criteria.

    • Join an award-winning team and compete at regional conferences.
    • ABET: Engineering Accreditation ComissionEarn a degree that is nationally accredited.
    • Learn from faculty who are consulting engineers, company owners and principle investigators of federally sponsored projects.

Learn to Lead the Way in Electrical Engineering

    • Analyze and design electrical devices that are essential to science, technology and industry.
    • Use innovative ideas to design products that combine Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and more.
    • Gain hands-on experience with electric systems for drones, robotics, self-driving vehicles and health care devices.
    • Develop skills using industrial-level design tools and computer languages.

    Experience an Exceptional Learning Environment

Apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to hands-on experiences in labs and on a variety of projects, including:

    • A renewable energy lab with a cutting-edge wind turbine generator.
    • Develop NASA mission-related instruments for near space exploration, such as payloads for live video streaming of the 2024 solar eclipse.
    • Work with health professions majors to provide engineering solutions that improve patients’ lives.

    Inspire Your Academic Success

Gain real-world knowledge through key electrical engineering courses including:

Electric Drives and Laboratory: Study subsystems of an electric drive system and apply the theory to real-life scenarios, such as electrical car cruise control.

IoT Introduction: Learn the concept of Internet of Things. Build IoT devices and implement security techniques through team lab activities and projects.

Senior Design and Laboratory: Complete the entire design cycle of an innovative product, including implementation, testing and finalizing the product.

    Achieve the Possibilities

    • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for electrical engineers is $96,640 and can range up to $153,240.
    • Our graduates have secured internships and employment at top organizations such as Siemens USA, Wabtec Corp., FirstEnergy Corp., NASA, Westinghouse Electric Corp., Bechtel Corp., IAM Robotics, Eaton Corp., Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Co., Mitsubishi, Bombardier Inc., Lord Corp., and more.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies

Daniel Hughes Electrical Engineering

"The highlight of my program experience was getting to work with the material in the labs and applying the skills developed in class in a hands-on way. This was one of the best ways to reinforce and refine my skills."

“If you have a passion for technology, electrical engineering may be a good fit for you. Electronics have been my hobby since a very young age. To make my passion a fulltime career, it only made sense for me to become an electrical engineer. In this program, I’ve discovered that anything is possible as long as you apply yourself.”
