  • May 2022 - 2022 Beehive Innovation Collegiate Showcase

    The ENV senior students presented Device for Active Micro-Plastics Removal (DAMPR), and won third place in the 2022 Beehive Innovation Collegiate Showcase.

    March 2022 – ESE faculty’s Advancement in rank to Associate Professor

    With excellent performance in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service, Dr. Varun Kasaraneni has been advanced in rank to Associate Professor.

    March 2022 – A major revision on the Liberal study (LS)

    A major revision on Liberal study (LS) cores has been made in all departments/programs at Gannon University throughout the academic year 2021-2022.  With this revision, credits required for the environmental engineering and environmental science programs have changed from the current 136 to 123, and from 128 to 120, respectively.  This new requirement will take effect for freshmen/transferred students who start in the academic year 2022-2023.  

    2021 – 2022 – New spaces for the ESE students’ design/thesis projects

    We have new spaces for conducting the senior design projects exclusively for the environmental science and engineering program within i-HACK and Zurn Science Buildings. A senior design lab located on the 3rd floor of the i-HACK building was designed for the senior students to discuss and implement the project using cutting-edge techniques such as 3D printers and laser cutters. Another ESE project lab located at Zurn 331 is equipped with a chemical fume hood, water sink, workbench, and computers allowing students to conduct hands-on activities/projects.  

    May 2021 – Outstanding adjunct professor

    Dr. David Hoch, an ESE adjunct faculty member teaching physical geology and environmental hydrology, has been selected as the College of Engineering and Business 2020-2021 outstanding adjunct.
