Preparing students for the real world of health care

The Patient Simulation Center of the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences is the largest comprehensive patient simulation center in the region. But it is more than that. It is a new direction in teaching healthcare professionals.

This direction involves not only technology, but also the recognition that the future of healthcare is in collaboration. The Patient Simulation Center uses a breakthrough, multidisciplinary approach, bringing students from a variety of fields—say, nursing, respiratory care and occupational therapy—together for collaborative learning. It’s not so much the patient that is being simulated as it is the clinical setting where healthcare professionals collaborate in real time using the kinds of protocols graduates will encounter in the real world.

In the Patient Simulation Center, you will find:

    • 14 medium- and high-fidelity patient simulators, the most in the area
    • 5,800 square-feet of floor space devoted to the Center
    • Intravenous training stations, a computer lab, classroom seating for 40 students and a lobby with a plasma television
    • Simulated emergency rooms, labor/delivery/recovery rooms
    • A multidisciplinary, team-based approach to health care within a simulated clinical setting

The future of training in the health professions is waiting for you at Gannon University’s Patient Simulation Center today.
