Program Description
- 3+4 early acceptance program with the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, leading to a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree
- Qualified students can gain conditionally guaranteed acceptance as early as senior year of high school
- Students in the 3+4 early acceptance program can earn a B.S. in health science from Gannon University after successful completion of their first year at CWRU
Liberal Studies Core
The Liberal Studies Core Curriculum is one reflection of Gannon University's commitment to
its Catholic identity. The Core's design offers students a defined, integrated, shared
experience as the foundation for their undergraduate program.
Gannon University Undergraduate Entry Requirements
- Complete four years of science courses and four years of math courses at the high school level.
- Achieve a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Obtain a rank in the top 25 percent of your high school class.
- Achieve a minimum SAT score of 1360 (new SAT)/1300 (old SAT) or ACT composite score of 30.
- Submit a personal statement or essay.
- Provide evidence of academic and personal potential, and a desire to become a dentist.
- Provide documentation for a mastery of English, if the applicant’s primary language is not English.
- Provide documented exposure to clinical environments, preferably in the profession of dentistry.
- Complete a satisfactory admissions interview with the CWRU School of Dental Medicine.
Admissions Process
Guaranteed acceptance will not be granted until all requirements listed have been satisfied. Decisions will be rendered by April 1 and formal notification of acceptance will be sent to the applicant by Gannon University by April 15, two weeks prior to the deposit deadline for Gannon University. Students who wish to be considered for the CWRU School of Dental Medicine affiliation program with Gannon University must:
- apply and successfully be admitted to Gannon University’s CWRU 3+4 Early Acceptance Dental Medicine program.
- complete a successful admissions interview with the CWRU School of Dental Medicine.
Affiliate Entry Requirements
- Complete 90 credits of undergraduate study with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 (overall and science).
- Earn a minimum of a B in all specified prerequisite pre-dental coursework.
- Maintain good standing with Gannon University.
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours of shadowing or volunteering in clinical and dental environments.
- Achieve a minimum DAT score of 19 for the Academic Average and 18 for the Perceptual Ability.
- Apply to the CWRU School of Dental Medicine by January 1 of the junior year.
- Obtain a letter of evaluation from the Pre-Health Applicant Review Committee at Gannon University.
- Complete an on-site interview at the CWRU School of Dental Medicine.
- Respond to the offer of acceptance within 15 days to secure a seat.
- Fulfill any additional requirements as outlined through the affiliation agreement between Gannon University and the CWRU School of Dental Medicine.
Students admitted to this program will forfeit their conditionally guaranteed seat if they apply to any other dental schools.
