Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to have health insurance? 

    Yes. All international students and their family members must have health insurance. You may bring proof of your own comparable insurance or purchase it through Gannon University.

    What if I get sick? 

    As part of your tuition, you can use the health center for minor illnesses and injuries.

    When do terms begin? 

    There are 5 terms a year that start at these approximate times:

    • Spring I: early January
    • Spring II: mid-March
    • Summer: mid-May
    • Fall I: mid-August
    • Fall II: mid-October

    Each term lasts for 9 weeks

    When is the application deadline? 

    Gannon accepts applications at any time, however, applicants who need a student visa must apply at least 6 weeks before they want to begin studying at Gannon. See calendar for class start dates.

    What does the tuition include? 

    • 25 hours per week of academic instruction
    • Intensive orientation of the campus and City of Erie
    • Cultural and social activities
    • Access to library, health center, recreational center and other university facilities

    What does the tuition NOT include? 

    • Meals
    • Housing
    • Books and materials
    • Health insurance

    When is my tuition due? 

    1st day of classes

    Who are my instructors? 

    Your ESL instructors:

    • Have several years of experience and training in ESL and EFL
    • Have degrees in teaching
    • Are highly experienced in cross-cultural learning
    • Understand the cultural adjustments the students have to make
    • Participate in continuing education to learn new methods of language acquisition

    How will I be evaluated? 

    Students are assessed according to their level and the outcomes that are taught during a specific 9-week session. Instructors use a variety of methods like quizzes, tests, presentations, projects, essays, and interviews.
