Global Student Insurance Requirement

  • All international students at Gannon are required to have insurance. We do this to protect students who may not be used to living in a country without a national system of healthcare. Healthcare can get very expensive in the United States and we do not want students to get stuck with a large bill.

Students on F-1 and J-1 visas are automatically enrolled in the IMG Accident & Incident Insurance Plan (currently this plan is $417 for August-December 2022, $380 for January-May 2023, and $297 for May-July 2023 coverage).

You have the option to select the Wellfleet Health Insurance Plan (currently this plan is $1205 for July-December 2022 and $1205 for the January-June 2023).

As you can see, the IMG Accident & Incident Insurance Plan is a less expensive option than the Wellfleet Health Insurance Plan. You should know that this difference in price does come with a difference in coverage. If you have chronic health issues, need to see a doctor regularly, take prescription medications, or plan to use preventative health services, it might be better for you to be on the Wellfleet Health Insurance Plan. Please note that international student athletes are not eligible to enroll in the IMG Accident & Incident Plan and must be enrolled in the Wellfleet Health Insurance Plan.

To be enrolled in the IMG Accident & Incident Insurance Plan, you do nothing. This is already on your bill and we will take care of getting you enrolled. If you would prefer to be enrolled in the Wellfleet Health Insurance Plan, you should fill out this form.

Note: SACM-sponsored students do not need to worry about this. If you are sponsored by your government or some other agency that is not SACM, or you have health insurance through a United States employer, please see Marilee Wilkosz in the Global Support office to waive out of these two plans.
