Dr. Ahmed AbuHussein is currently an Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Gannon University, Erie, Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to his appointment at Gannon, he served as an Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, Alaska, USA.Dr. Abuhussein holds a Ph.D. degree in ECE from the University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He also holds an MS degree in ECE from the same institute and a BS degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Tafila Technical University (TTU), Tafila, Jordan. He is an active member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). He is a member of the executive committee of the IEEE Erie Section where he serves as the section’s secretary since October of 2019. IEEE Erie section is a part of a IEEE Region 2 and covers the northwest of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of IEEE’s honor society Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) and he is the HKN faculty advisor at Gannon University. His main field of interest includes fault current limiters, power quality, Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GIC), power electronics, electrical machines, AC/DC microgrids, renewable energy systems, energy storage systems, and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS).
