Diane Chido is founder of Erie-based research firm, DC Analytics. She is a political science instructor with the Gannon University School of Government Service and Public Affairs, and a former faculty instructor and project advisor with the Mercyhurst University Department of Intelligence Studies.

She was recently named an Expert in Governance in Sub-Saharan Africa by the United Nations Development Programme and authored a background paper for the 2020 African Human Development Report on "Pathways to Human Security in the Horn of Africa."

Prof. Chido served for three-years as the Security and Intelligence Policy Advisor to the U.S. Army’s Peace Keeping and Stability Operations Institute (PKSOI)colocated with the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, PA. There she wrote three policy monographs on military stabilization operations and co-taught a course on "Strategy and Culture in the Indian Wars" and taught a Graduate Seminar to Army Colonels on "Cultural Analysis for the Battlefield Commander." She served as a research analyst earlier in her career working on Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus with the International Monetary Fund and the Brookings Institution's Foreign Policy Program.

She has published and lectured widely on international security, intelligence, governance, and social and economic development topics. Her regions of expertise include Sub-Saharan Africa, Russia and Ukraine, the Balkans, and Central Asia. Her current research interest is the influence of Scotch-Irish Calvinism and culture on the formation of American politics and attitudes today.
