Matt Darling has been teaching (and coaching) at Gannon University since 2007. As a faculty member in the English Department, he has taught a variety of classes, including first-year writing courses, introductory literature courses, undergraduate courses in American literature, and graduate courses in American Literature, European Literature, and Criticism and Theory.
As the head volleyball coach at Gannon, Darling has led the team to ten consecutive NCAA tournaments (a record for all sports in the history of Gannon athletics) and to the championship of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in both 2012 and 2016. In 2017, the team advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in program history. He was named PSAC coach of the year in 2009, 2012, 2016, and 2018.
Darling enjoys running and has completed several marathons (including Chicago, Detroit, and Boston). He and his wife Elizabeth have two children.
