Several research projects are active. One area of interest is in the computational modeling of lake circulation in order to study the flow of water-borne plant nutrients including phosphorus and nitrogen. Our research interest is to determine whether or to what extent lake circulation controls the concentration of these nutrients, and whether or not there is a correlation with the appearance of lake algal blooms. We use computational methods based on first principles, accounting for effects including turbulence, wind-shear, and bathymetry.

A second area of interest is in the temperature control of a thermal environment using a cooling system powered by a renewable energy source. In this project, we are interested in using electricity from solar panels to supply power to the cooling system. Our longer-term interest is to utilize 2d and 3rd generation solar panel technology in a body-integrated fashion.

Additional research projects are potentially available in the area of the computational modeling of blood flow.
