Richard G. Ligo

I grew up on a beautiful farm in Mercer, Pennsylvania.  My dream as a high school student was to become an architect, but I eventually realized that I was a much better mathematician than artist, and mathematics could actually be extremely interesting all on its own.  This led me to a mathematics major at Westminster College, where I also received a minor in secondary education.  Following my graduation from Westminster I attended the University of Iowa, where I obtained my Ph.D.

A few years after moving to Erie to teach at Gannon, I was blessed to meet the woman who later became my wife.  Both beautiful and insightful, Ashley has been a constant source of wisdom and encouragement.  I am a much better teacher, researcher, and person as a result of her influence. 

While I no longer live on the farm, I still enjoy working there alongside my father.  My hobbies haven't changed much since I was in elementary school—I love soccer, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and video games.  Competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee and speedruns of Nintendo 64 or Gamecube games are among my favorite things to watch.
