Dr. Anjali Sahay is an educator, leader, author, researcher, and a performing artist working as Associate Professor and Director of the School of Public Service and Global Affairs at Gannon University. She has more than two decades of successfully running the Model UN Programs at various universities (read more in Gannon Magazine article United Across Nations). Originally from India, Dr. Sahay received her PhD. From Old Dominion University in International Studies in 2006 and holds additional masters in History and Business Administration.
In 2020, Private University Product and News did a 'Professor Spotlight' on Dr. Sahay in the article: International Relations at Gannon University. During the election year 2020, Dr. Sahay lent her expertise on election 2020 and on Vice President Kamala Harris in TIME Magazine, CNBC, Financial Times, Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and Erie Times News. She has various interviews on current affairs (most recently on Corona Virus in India) and Asian Americans in ABC News and Erie Times News. Her area of research focuses on International Migration and International Relations and has been featured on Migration News. Her book titled: Indian Diaspora in the United States: Brain Drain or Gain? is a groundbreaking work that intersects economic and political issues to the dimension of migration and the concerns over brain drain. Subsequently, she has various publications on the topic of Brain Drain and Brain Gain.
Passionate about serving AAPI communities in Northwest PA, she has served two terms on Governor Wolf's Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs where some of her notable works include: organizing the first ever Townhall for AAPI communities in the city of Erie; mobilizing AAPI communities for census and voting; and showcasing AAPI artists during the APA Heritage Month.
Currently she serves on the Boards of Erie Art Museum, Mayor's New American Council, Western New York/Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter of the Fulbright Association, and the Indian Association of Greater Erie.
Dr. Sahay also places an equally important emphasis on making 'Teaching' a fun environment and actively uses technology in the classroom. She also received the first prize for Gannon President's Award for 'Teaching with Technology Award' in 2012 and second prize for the same award in 2015. As a huge advocate for globalization, she has also been awarded the ‘Prioritized Institutional Goal’ for advancing globalization on Gannon campus and led a student trip to Beijing, China in 2017.
Dr. Sahay is also a trained classical dancer in Kathak, a classical dance form that originated in Northern India. She was a TEDx performer in April 2017 performing Indian Dance and has received a grant from PA Council on the Arts in 2021.

Scholarship-Research
My major research interests is in the areas of International Migration and International Relations. To that end, I have published various articles and book on migration on topics such as Brain Drain or Gain, Diaspora Studies, Immigration Politics, and Remittances. Additional research interests include: US- India Relations, Diaspora Studies, International Political Economy, and Asian Politics. To this end, I have also published a co-authored paper titled ‘Nuclear Weapons, Terrorism, and Stability in South Asia.’ My other notable publication includes: India-Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline Project: Implications for Regional Security; and the Global War on Terror and the Asian Diaspora in the US: Immigration, Remittances, and Development.
