Dr. Ted Yeshion is Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminalistics at Gannon University.  Professor Yeshion earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medical Biology from York College of the City University of New York, a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from the George Washington University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Science Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.   

Dr. Yeshion began his career in 1975 with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and retired from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in 1999.  Upon retirement, he began a private forensic science consulting practice.  Dr. Yeshion has a combined total of 41 years experience as a forensic scientist, crime laboratory director, special agent, and forensic consultant.  He has testified for the prosecution and defense in hundreds of criminal and civil litigation cases as an expert witness in the areas of Forensic Serology, DNA Analysis, and Crime Scene Reconstruction.  One specialty area that has earned Dr. Yeshion an international reputation as a leading forensics expert is the application and interpretation of Luminol as a presumptive test for blood.  Dr. Yeshion has appeared on local and national news and radio stations, including Court TV, Fox News, and Investigation Discovery.  His work was cited during “the trial of the century”, People v. O.J. Simpson.  Professor Yeshion is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a member of numerous other professional associations.  Dr. Yeshion was appointed and served as Chairman of the Science Subcommittee for the Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission on Wrongful Convictions.  As a private consultant, Professor Yeshion has assisted in the release of several individuals who were determined to be factually innocent after serving an average of 20 years in prison.  Dr. Yeshion is a noted author of peer-reviewed scientific papers and has lectured internationally.  He also serves on the advisory board for Forensic Teacher magazine.
