GU Gold Card

  • GU Gold is More than a University ID

    • The GU Gold card is your ID card and much more. It's a photo ID for Gannon events and services, but it also allows you to make purchases at various on and off campus locations.
    • The debit card function is activated when you deposit money into your GU Gold account through the Cashier's Office or online.
    • Just present your GU Gold card when you make a purchase and the amount of your purchase will be automatically deducted from your GU Gold account.

    Benefits of GU Gold

    • There is no interest, monthly service charges, or annual maintenance fees!
    • Use the card on and off campus at our approved vendor locations.
    • Don't pay fees... use GU Gold instead of your ATM!
    • You can easily deposit additional funds to your account throughout the term.
    • Unused balances will be carried over to the next term at no charge.

    Make a Deposit

    • The minimum credit card deposit is $5.00.
    • Payment online by credit card is free of charge.
    •  There are no monthly service fees or minimum balance requirements on the GU Gold card.
    • GU Gold funds cannot be used to pay tuition accounts or withdrawn as cash.

    Transfer Credit

    • Students with a credit balance on their tuition bill have the option of transferring some or all of the credit to their GU Gold Card.  (Credit from enrollment deposits are non-transferrable) 
    • If you would like to have your credit transferred, please access your Semester Bill using GU Self Service and this option will be presented.

    Lost or Stolen Cards

    Lost or Stolen cards should be deactivated immediately by one of the following means:

    • Deactivate your card online from the GU Gold eAccount website, your network ID and passwords are required.  If your card is found before you have it replaced, your card can be reactivated.
    •  Contact the Office of Campus Police and Safety to have the card deactivated.  Direct calls to (814) 871-7000, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    It is the individual card holder's responsibility to deactivate the card as soon as possible.  A replacement card can be purchased at the Campus Police and Safety Office, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

    GU Gold funds from the original card will automatically be carried over to the new card once purchased.

    Debit Function Policy

    General Information
    The GU Gold Card is your identification card for Gannon events, services, and building access. The GU Gold Card also functions as a debit card and allows purchases at various on and off-campus locations. For information regarding card security, use and ownership, lost or stolen cards, Term and Privacy policies, refer to the ID Security Policy.

    Debit Function 
    The debit card function is activated when money is deposited into your GU Gold Card account through the Cashier's Office. Deposits can be made throughout the year. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted forms of payment. (There is a $5.00 minimum deposit with a credit card.) In addition to making a payment, there are other methods of placing funds on a GU Gold Card. Students who have a credit balance on their tuition account can request a transfer of funds to their GU Gold Card. Also, the GU Gold portion of a student meal plan is deposited to the card. Payroll deductions are available for employees to deposit into their GU Gold Card account.

    GU Gold funds are available for purchases only. Cash withdrawals and paying tuition balances from this account are not permitted. Funds remain on the card as long as the student/employee remains at the university from one semester to the next.

    Insufficient Funds                                                                                                                                    
    Your GU Gold transactions will be verified prior to the completion of a transaction.  In the rare event a transaction cannot be verified due to a system problem and a purchase occurs resulting in insufficient funds in the GU Gold account, the account will reflect a negative balance.  The owed funds will automatically be deducted from the next deposit.  Should the account remain with a negative balance for more than 14 days, the amount will be billed directly to the student account.                                                                            

    Refund Requests
    A refund of GU Gold funds can only be requested at the time a student graduates or formally withdraws from the University. A Refund Request form must be submitted to the Cashier's Office. Valid requests will be processed after the graduation or withdrawal date. All University debts must be satisfied prior to a refund being processed. Refunds will not be issued for non-refundable deposits. Employees can request a refund upon departure from the University.
    GU Gold card accounts with no activity during a twelve-month period are considered inactive. Inactive accounts with balances of less than $20.00 will be closed and the remaining balance forfeited..

    Locations
    The GU Gold Card can be used at various locations on-campus including the Gannon Bookstore, all food locations, the Campus Police and Safety Office (for ID's or parking fees/fines), the Mailroom, the Health Center, and various vending and copy machine locations that have been equipped with card readers.

    Error Resolution Procedure
    Gannon recommends all cardholders monitor their transactions on a regular basis. Your GU Gold Card account can be reviewed on the GU Gold eAccount website under "Manage My Account". A printed copy of transactions can also be requested from the Cashier's Office.

    Any billing disputes should be addressed directly with the merchant. If the cardholder believes the merchant has overcharged their account, they should present a copy of their transaction statement to the merchant and request an adjustment.

    Suspected fraudulent/unauthorized charges to a GU Gold Card account will be addressed by the Campus Police and Safety Office. The cardholder will need to provide all relevant information including name and ID number, date of transaction, location, amount of the unauthorized charge, and any other information deemed necessary to help the staff investigate the claim.

    Usage
    Gannon University is not responsible for the refusal to accept or honor your GU Gold Card by any of the participating establishments under, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

    • There are insufficient funds in your account at the time the purchase is requested.
    • The equipment being used by the merchant or office initiating the transaction is not functioning correctly at the time the transaction is attempted.
    • Your account has been temporarily or permanently suspended due to violation of this agreement.
    • Your GU Gold Card has been reported lost.

    The University is not responsible for any loss, inconvenience or embarrassment to you or to others arising as a result of lack of funds in your account.

    Acceptance of Agreement 
    By initiating deposits and transactions on your GU Gold Card account, you have agreed to the terms and conditions of the agreement as set forth in this document. The University reserves the right to change the terms and conditions without notice.

    ID Security Policy

    General Information 
    The GU Gold Card is your identification card for Gannon events, services, and building access. The GU Gold Card also has the ability to function as a debit card and allows purchases at various on and off-campus locations. Refer to the GU Gold Card Debit Function Policy for information regarding the debit card features.

    Use and Ownership 
    The GU Gold Card is an identification card issued to you as a member of the Gannon University Community. The GU Gold Card is the property of Gannon University. You should protect this card with the same care you would use to safeguard cash, keys and other personal identification cards.

    The GU Gold Card allows cardholders to access materials and services at the Nash library; access fitness facilities at the Recreation and Wellness Center; events at the Hammermill Center and Gannon University Field; entry to student housing and other campus buildings; and holds Meal Plan information for student on- campus dining. The GU Gold card may be used as an ID card for employees to receive discounts at on-campus dining locations and the bookstore. The GU Gold Card also allows employees and students to access vending and copy machines.

    Although the GU Gold Card is the property of Gannon University, it is entrusted to you for identification and convenience while enrolled at or employed by the University. Only the person to whom the identification card is issued is privileged to use the card. Unauthorized use, alteration, or duplication warrants confiscation and/or disciplinary and legal action.

    Employees retiring or leaving the University should return his/her card along with their spouses or dependents cards to their supervisor. Retirees may have a retiree card issued by the Campus Police and Safety Office.

    Your First GU Gold Card 
    Students, employees, employee spouses and dependents can obtain their GU Gold Card at the Campus Police and Safety Office. Employee cards are free; students are charged $10 for their initial card, and employee spouses and dependents are charged $5.

    Lost or Stolen Cards 
    Members of the Gannon Community are responsible for maintaining a valid GU Gold Card in proper working condition. If your card has been lost or stolen, immediately contact the Campus Police and Safety Office at 871-7000 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) to have the card deactivated. It is the individual's responsibility to notify Campus Police and Safety as soon as possible. A replacement card can be purchased at the Campus Police and Safety Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. GU Gold funds from the original card will automatically be carried over to the new card.

    There is no fee for employee replacement cards. Student replacement cards are $15 for the first lost, stolen or misplaced card. An additional $5 is charged for each subsequent replacement card. Defective or heavily worn cards will be replaced at no charge when turning in your old card.

    Changes to Terms 
    Future changes in terms and conditions regulating use of the GU Gold Card will apply to all cards in circulation and use at that time and will supersede the terms and conditions in effect at the time the card was acquired. The University reserves the right to change any of the policies without notice.

    Privacy Policy 
    Your account and personal information will be kept confidential. Outside parties will not be privileged to information about you, your account, or the purchases you make without your express consent unless such disclosure is in compliance with a court order or government legislation.
