GU Gold Card FAQ

  • How do I open a GU Gold account?

    All enrolled students have a Gannon ID card. Simply deposit money into your GU Gold account and your GU Gold card is ready to use. For convenience, make a deposit on-line by e-check or credit card, or visit the Cashier's Office located in the Courthouse Commons Building (150 West 6th St.). Minimum Credit Card Deposit $5.00.

    What happens to my money at the end of each semester?

    The balance on your GU Gold card automatically carries over each semester.

    I have an older Gannon ID card. Will it work as a GU Gold card?

    Yes. Every Gannon ID card becomes a GU Gold card once money is deposited into the account.

    How do I close my GU Gold account?

    Students may close accounts and obtain refunds only upon graduation or withdrawal from the university. Students must complete a Refund Request Form, or mail a written request that includes account holder's name, ID number, and address where check should be sent. Refund Request forms may be found online. (Credit will be applied to any outstanding balance before being refunded.)

    How do I withdraw money from my GU Gold account?

    Withdrawals are not permitted. Funds in your GU Gold account cannot be accessed for cash withdrawals, refunds, or transferred to a tuition account. Once deposited, they are for purchases only until the student graduates or formally withdraws from the university.

    How do I add money to my GU Gold account?

    Money can be added to your GU Gold account by mail (with deposit form), online by e-check or credit card and in person at the Cashier's Office. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Deposits can be made at any time during the year. Minimum Credit Card Deposit $5.00. 

    How do I check the balance on my GU Gold account?

    Your balance can be checked online via the "Manage your Account" link.

    How can I see individual GU Gold transaction information?

    You can view GU Gold transaction detail on-line via the "Manage my Account" link. Select Account Statements and choose the month you want to see, and double click. You will see a line item for each transaction, including purchases and deposits.

    What happens to the money in my GU Gold account at the end of the year?

    Your account remains open and the balance carries over to the next year.

    What should I do if I lose my GU Gold card or it is stolen?

    Your card should be deactivated immediately.  Deactivate your card online, (your network ID and password are required), or you should immediately call Campus Police and Safety Office (extension 7690) to have your card deactivated. Replacement cards are available in Campus Safety during normal business hours. There is a replacement fee of $15.00 for the first card.

    Yes. Replacement cards can be obtained in Campus Safety during normal business hours. There is a replacement fee of $15.00 for the first card.

    How much does it cost to replace my GU Gold card?

    $15.00 payable by cash, check, credit card or Gold card.

    My GU Gold card doesn't work. What should I do?

    Take your card to Campus Safety for assistance. Defective cards will be replaced free of charge.

    Why isn't my GU Gold card working in the vending machine even though the reader on the machine displays my account balance?

    Cardholders must have the cost of the highest priced item in the machine on account. Even if you have enough funds for a lower priced item the machine will not vend until you meet this requirement.

    How do I request a refund from my GU Gold card?

    A refund request form must be submitted to the Cashier's Office. The form can be obtained in the "Manage my Account" area of this web page. GU Gold credit will be applied to any outstanding balance before being refunded. There are two occasions when you can request a refund:

      1. Withdrawing from Gannon University
      2. Graduation
