WI-Fi
Wi-Fi networking is available in all Gannon buildings. The Wi-Fi
in all Gannon residence halls was recently upgraded to support the
latest wireless technology with speeds up to 300Mbps. This network
also accommodates a variety of other wireless devices including
gaming consoles, media players, tablets, smart TVs and
smartphones.
Personal Computer Requirements
Gannon students
are encouraged but not required
to have personal
computers on campus.
Gannon students may purchase desktops and laptops
through any vendor
provided they meet minimum standards.
Personal Software Purchases
Software packages
from Microsoft, Adobe, and others are available
to students at a discount from JourneyEd. All Gannon students are
required to have a working, up-to-date anti-virus software on their personal
computer in order to authenticate to the Gannon Wi-Fi. A free anti-virus software can be provided by
contacting the Help Desk at 814-871-7501.
Move-in Day
Tech teams are in each of the freshman residence halls on
move-in day to assist with connecting your computer to the network
or other technology issues you may encounter.
Student Email
More than just email, Microsoft Office 365 for Education
provides Gannon students with a number of productivity and
collaboration tools, including 50 GB mailbox for email, 1 TB of
online file storage, group calendaring, shared online documents,
Office Web Apps, and much more. And because Office 365 is
browser-based, students can access all of these services from
virtually any computer or mobile device with an Internet
connection.
Computer Access and Resources
ITS provides more than 200 student access computers in eight
labs through all of our academic buildings. Extended hours are
provided in several locations for late night study. Computers
provide access to University resources as well as specialty
software. Students have access to high capacity laser printers with
a quota of 600 pages per semester.
Departmental Computer Labs
Some departments have specialized computer labs devoted to specific courses or majors. Some of these labs are:

- Chemistry
- Biology
- Communications
Classroom Technology
Gannon has 130 teaching classrooms and labs equipped with
instructional technology that includes an instructor station with
projection for computer, DVD, and cable TV display.
Learning Management System
Gannon's Learning Management System (LMS) enables each course offered
at Gannon an area for online communication, collaboration and
sharing of course content. Faculty are able to use our LMS as an
extension of the classroom - by sharing lectures, media and other
course content with students.
Academic and Financial Information
Gannon provides online access to academic and financial
information, which includes the ability to:
GU TV
Residence halls and campus apartments are equipped to deliver
local Over the Air (OTA) broadcast channels only.
Help Desk
The Gannon ITS Help Desk provides walk-in, phone, and online
assistance for students with questions or issues regarding technology. Hours are flexible with technicians
available during regular business hours and phone support available
on evenings and weekends to meet students' needs.
Technology Support Center
The Technology Support Center (TSC) located in Nash Library offers the
same services as the Help Desk in Palumbo and a lot more. In
addition to providing assistance with connecting to the Gannon
network, technicians can assist with more in-depth Microsoft Office
questions; scanning and manipulating graphics with Adobe Creative
Suite and how to use Office 365 for document management. The TSC offers more convenient evening and weekend hours for
hands-on computer support.
