These large viewing windows were designed by Gannon engineers to provide a safe and immersive viewing experience for eclipse spectators.
The total solar eclipse is just one month away and Gannon’s preparations for this once-in-a-lifetime event are in full swing.
For example, Gannon student engineers have built large viewing windows that will allow individuals to observe the solar eclipse without the need for protective eyewear. For use at a campus-wide gathering as well as a few downtown Erie locations, these viewing windows will serve as a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of Gannon engineers.
During the eclipse, Gannon staff and faculty will provide a safe, educational viewing experience in various locations on and off campus. Solar eclipse glasses will be provided (while supplies last) as well as the opportunity to view the eclipse through high powered telescopes and the student-constructed viewing windows.
