CAHME Candidacy
CAHME, The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, has approved the Gannon University Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program's application for accreditation candidacy. The approval follows nearly a year-long effort to align the program's mission, vision, and competencies according to CAHME's recommended specifications. The next steps in obtaining accreditation will require the program to undergo a study year beginning in the Fall Semester 2024 followed by a site visit by the accrediting committee in the Fall Semester 2025. CAHME is the accrediting body for 147 healthcare management programs in the United States and Canada. According to its research, graduates from CAHME-accredited programs earn on average over $10,000 more in their first year of employment compared to graduates from non-CAHME-accredited programs.
CAHME Candidate status is an indication that a program in healthcare management has voluntarily committed to participate in a plan of self-improvement and is actively progressing toward the status of accreditation. Candidate status is not accredited status and does not guarantee eventual accredited status.
