The theme for this year’s event is Wild West.
The Gannon University Relay for Life will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Gannon Recreation and Wellness Center, 103 W. Fourth Street. The theme for this year’s event is Wild West.
“It’s an honor to work with such dedicated students who put in a lot of time to make Relay a moving and fun experience,” said Relay for Life club advisor Ann Bomberger.
Throughout the year, the Relay for Life Club has been collaborating with student organizations, faculty and staff on campus, and local businesses to plan this event. This year’s club president, Andrew Schultz, has efficiently communicated with the Gannon Activities Programing Board (APB) and the Student Government Association (SGA) to redesign the event.
Unlike past years, this year’s Relay for Life is co-sponsored by SGA. There will be various events during the week leading up to the relay resembling Gannon’s Unity Week that takes place in the fall. Students can use the code KNIGHTS for free entry to the event and a free t-shirt while supplies last. Individuals and student organizations are to register in advance and can sign up at: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY24NER?pg=entry&fr_id=107580.
The event will begin with opening remarks from Gannon’s President, Dr. Walter Iwanenko, and a cancer survivor. There will be free pizza, free raffle tickets with the option to purchase additional tickets, the opportunity to walk laps around the gymnasium with your team and host activities at your team’s table. The Relay for Life Club will be hosting games throughout the afternoon and giving away prizes. The Luminaria Walk will take place at 3:30 p.m., and it is open to all. Luminaria bags to honor or remember a loved one are available for purchase ahead of time and the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
