As an investment portfolio manager, Gannon graduate Emily Baker has a lot of meetings. Her position with Wedgewood Investors, Inc. in Erie keeps her very busy as she creates and manages client investment allocations, personalized to each client and based on thorough research. Baker strives to maintain excellent client relationships and credits her Gannon professors with teaching not only course material but valuable life skills as well. For example, she remembers a senior year class with Anne O’Neill that taught invaluable skills, such as how to interview, how to dress properly, and how to have a proper meeting over a meal. Baker reports this was probably the most beneficial class she ever took because it taught skills that are proving to be extremely helpful.
Prior to joining Wedgewood, Baker held positions with Citizens Bank and Marquette Savings Bank. She is currently continuing her education by taking courses to obtain her Certified Financial Planner designation. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Erie Humane Society and is a National Social Security Advisor Certificate Holder.
Baker and her husband Jerry were married in October, 2018. She is step-mother to Ashley and they have a Saint Bernard named Whiskey. Her hobbies include hiking, skiing, camping, traveling, guitar, concerts and photography. She is looking forward to growing her client base with Wedgewood and, hopefully, growing her family as well.
As parting words to current Gannon students, Baker shared, “Take the time in college to try new things. You may be surprised by the interests you have outside of your major. They may even be things you can carry forward with you in life.”
