Jane (Rohling) Frye '85

Jane (Rohling) Frye is a 1985 Communication Arts graduate. As a student in the communication department on campus, Jane became involved in both theatre and radio. When Jane wasn’t participating in the theatre or at the radio station,90.5 WERG, she was with her friends in the Student Government Association. In addition to her very busy class schedule and extracurriculars, she was also a Resident Advisor.

Jane says that the Communication Arts program really helped her find her voice and to speak confidently in public. The program also taught her the importance of always working ethically and standing on your moral ground. Communicating and collaborating with her peers comes easily to her now, especially after graduating from Gannon.

When thinking about her favorite memories and traditions at Gannon, two came to mind for Jane. Her favorite memory is graduation weekend. She really enjoyed the weekend full of activities, with wine and cheese on Friday, Saturday family activity followed by a dance, Sunday mass and graduation. She carries on these traditions reminiscing with classmates at reunions and getting together to ‘Meet Me at the Plymouth’.

After her Gannon academic career, Jane followed a path she was passionate about and became a licensed intervention specialist. She currently works with students who have different disabilities, and an at home tutor to ill children. Outside of the classroom, Jane owns and operates her own small business which focuses on knitting and crocheting.
