Debbie A. Burbules graduated from Villa Maria College in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and earned her Master of Public Administration from Gannon in 2001.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, she joined Hamot Hospital in 1979 as a registered nurse in the cardiac stepdown and dialysis units. She has also held director positions at Great Lakes Home Healthcare and Hospice, assisting in the development of the palliative care program and outpatient infusion services. In October 2009, she was named president of UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital and also serves as vice president of Ambulatory and Women’s Services.
As president, Ms. Burbules works on integrating the hospital’s physicians and employees, as well as provides her expertise in women’s services to ensure that the Women’s Hospital delivers the highest level of care for women and their families in this community. In addition, she serves as Senior Vice President of Outpatient Services at Hamot Health Foundation.
Ms. Burbules was recognized by the Mercy Center for Women in 2008 as one of 12 women in the Erie region who was “Making History.” She has also received the Girl Scouts of Northwest Pennsylvania’s 2010 Woman of Distinction Award and is president of the Great Lakes Home Healthcare Services Board of Directors, chair of The Regional Cancer Center’s Board of Directors and a board member of LifeWorks Erie, ATHENA Powerlink and MedCare.
