Mr. Heckman graduated from Gannon University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He continued his education at Gannon and received a Master’s in Business Administration in 1984. A Certified Public Accountant, John Heckman, joined Kirkland Capital Partners in April 2005 as Controller. In addition, he has his own private taxation practice. Prior to joining Kirkland, he was the Interim Chief Financial Officer and Director of Fiscal Operations at the Center for Families and Children. Mr. Heckman was also a Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick.
While at Gannon, Mr. Heckman was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, served as an accounting tutor, and worked as the Assistant Director of Student Living, 1984-1987. As an Assistant Director, he successfully directed the development of two 24 unit university-owned apartment complexes and supervised the refurbishing of several university facilities.
Mr. Heckman is very active in the Cleveland community and in his church. He has been involved with the United Way, working with inner city youth, and serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Heckman is also affiliated with: The Make a Wish Foundation; The Chagrin Valley Women’s League; Playhouse Square Foundation; Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
John Heckman and his wife Lisa ’85M, have two children and have remained active in planning and implementing Gannon events and programs in the Cleveland region.
