Marilyn J. Kendall, Ed.D. '69VMC, '71M

Dr. Kendall holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College, a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Gannon University, and her Doctor of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Southern California, and boasts a diverse background in teaching and educational administration.

Beginning her teaching career in the Erie City Schools, she was selected to teach overseas in Copenhagen, Denmark for the Department of Defense Overseas Schools. This experience provided opportunities for travel and the sharing of her adventures with students. She would then return home to Erie and become commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, where she would hold various positions in personnel management and educational administration throughout her twenty years of service, eventually attaining the rank of Major. She recalls one of the highlights of her military career as serving as White House Social Aide during the Reagan Administration.

Dr. Kendall’s career in public school education includes the title of elementary principal with the Millcreek Township School District for fourteen years, where she enjoyed working with students, staff, and meeting the everyday challenges of school administration. She is involved in various community activities and serves as the Erie Regional Alumni Director for Gannon University. A Distinguished Alumna of the University, she credits Villa Maria College and Gannon with helping her to attain her success as an educator.

Sister Mary resides in Erie and enjoys gardening and golfing.
