Mechanical Engineering

Hannah E. Kirby '10

Hannah Kirby fell in love with Gannon upon her first visit as a high school junior. “The sense of community I felt as a visitor to campus was so encompassing, I knew I had to become a part of it,” she mentions. Almost immediately, she involved herself in the Gannon community, becoming a Gannon Knight Caller tele-counselor for prospective students her freshman year, a University Ambassador as a junior, and an Open House tour guide all four years.

Graduating in 2010 with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, she served as president of the Society of Women Engineers for two years, secretary for one year in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and was also a member of Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society.

Hannah credits Gannon’s engineering department for allowing her to develop a technical viewpoint and to be able to be an efficient and successful problem-solver. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Inspiration for the Next Generation Award by the National Alumni Association, the Academic Excellence Award in Mechanical Engineering, and the first-ever Erie’s ATHENA Young Professional Award.

Hannah is continuing her career at Gannon by entering the school’s Master of Business Administration program and partaking in an internship at Lord Corporation.
