NURS 428 School Nursing
This course is designed to focus on the professional nurse's role in
school health. Emphasis is placed on the dimensions of school
nursing; 100 hours of supervised clinical in school nursing is required.
EDCR 414 Sociology of Education
This course addresses the intersection of education and various other
institutions and structures in American society, such as family,
marriage, economics, politics, religion, gender, ability, social class,
race and ethnicity. Participants study theoretical perspectives
underlying education systems, learning theories that inform education
curricula and programs, the structure, positions, roles, and processes
involved in schools, and the relationship between educational systems
and societies.
SPED 101 Special Education Overview
This course provides a basic understanding of the federal mandates
associated with special education. Candidates are introduced to:
characteristics of various exceptionalities; pre-referral strategies and
intervention; cultural diversity; curricular and behavioral modalities;
adaptations and instructional strategies and assessment. Historical and
current legal issues in special education are also covered.
