    Major in Writing

    Students can tailor the major to fit their interests and professional goals by choosing to focus on the following concentrations:

    • Creative Writing: For students interested in multimedia writing, scriptwriting, or publishing.
    • Professional Writing: For students interested in pursing a career in web writing, content development, advertising, copywriting, grant writing, and so on.

    Minor in Writing

    A minor in Writing consists of 15 hours beyond the first-year writing course, ENGL 101. In addition to courses in Advanced Composition and Business/Professional Writing, students can select from a range of writing-focused courses that suit their academic and professional interest. 

    This self-designed minor is a wonderful complement to many majors in both Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields and humanities fields. A minor in Writing provides an opportunity to hone essential academic and professional skills, including critical analysis and writing.
